A fluid that helps move the wheels of your car is called power steering fluid. This fluid gets pumped out as you turn the wheel, which effects how well your vehicle moves for reasons unrelated to safety.

Power steering fluids work by taking water from the engine and adding it to the hydraulic system in the car. The fluid then mixes with all the other components (such as air) in the system to create an adequate level of pressure. This pressure forces the wheels to spin, helping push the car along.
